The Dead Ceausescus/A Tragicomedy in One Act was born in autumn of 2006 at the initiative of Gabby(Molotov Cocktail NYC) as a fun project inspired by the "good old days" of communism.
Their first concert took place in the winter of the same year, in Underworld, the first underground/punk club in Bucharest.
Since then The Dead Ceausescus have played regularly in Bucharest mostly on theme days such as, Ceausescu's birthday, August 23 the communist Romanian National Day, Mayday, Halloween and so on...
Although is made up of members of well known local punk bands, they don't consider themselves a super group, "we're all buddies, the politics and the past affect us all but from time to time you have to have a little bit of fun!"
In a country where neither the dictator died nor the police forgot it was the Militia, The Dead Ceausescus offer exactly what you'd expect from a punk rock band: dynamism, political satire, disorder and chaos!
Their shows are sprinkled with interludes, video projections and hymns from the golden age, as well as with appearances of Coana Leana(Ceausescu's wife impersonator) on the vocals."
